5-19-21 THOUGHTS

Gates were important in the bible.  They were used to “keep out” and to “let in”. Figuratively, they designated INSIDE and OUTSIDE.  It was desirable to be INSIDE!
Job 38:17   "Have the gates of death been revealed to you, Or have you seen the gates of deep darkness?    Matt 16:18 mentions the “gates of Hades”.
Ps 24:7-8    Lift up your heads, O gates, And be lifted up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! 8  Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle.
Ps 100:4   Enter His gates with thanksgiving [And] His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.
Matt 7:13-14   "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.  14  "For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Heb 13:12-14   Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate.  13  So, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach.
14  For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come.
Adam Clarke: “That he might sanctify the people That he might consecrate them to God, and make an atonement for their sins, he suffered without the gate at Jerusalem, as the sin-offering was consumed without the camp when the tabernacle abode in the wilderness. Perhaps all this was typical of the abolition of the Jewish sacrifices, and the termination of the whole Levitical system of worship. He left the city, denounced its final destruction, and abandoned it to its fate; and suffered without the gate to bring the Gentiles to God.”
Rev 21:25-27    In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed;
26  and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; 27  and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
The “veil” separating the holy place from the Holy of Holies, was a gate of types.  In the OT, it was essentially prohibitive.  It is replaced by our Savior to become a way of “ACCESS”!
Heb 10:19-21   Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,  20  by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh,
John 10:9   "I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
We could expand this discussion by following the word “door”.

My Prayer:
O God thank you for making yourself available to us through Christ Jesus.  We want to ever abide in your presence.  Forgive and cleanse us, impute holiness to us.  We pray in Jesus name for the home you have promised.  May our names be written in the Lamb’s book of life.
We pray in Jesus           Amen
